B&L Associates, Inc., a provider of open systems tape management solutions, announced the release of Vertices 5.1, the newest version of its flagship tape and media management software solution. Available with a web-based interface like previous versions, Vertices 5.1 increases the speed, tightens security and gives more control to data center professionals, the vendor says. This latest version is also being provided as a free upgrade to customers.

To enable customers try the new web interface without disrupting their current operation, B&L has developed Vertices 5.1 so that customers can use their existing interface and the web interface. In fact, customers can even use both interfaces on the same PC at the same time. "We understand that changing the way you've done something for years can be a difficult transition. So we've tried to make it as easy as possible for our customers by allowing them to use both interfaces," states Michael Kramer, vice president of sales and marketing at B&L Associates.
