Datawatch and Xerox Team Up to Help Organizations Tap into Value Locked in Paper Reports

Tall stacks of inventory reports fill back rooms in almost all large retail stores. Having such a large stock pile of old paper reports holds little value, and there is no good way to manage the information if need be. Xerox Canada and Data Watch have created a solution to address the issue by digitizing these files. A large Canadian retailer will be first to implement this solution aimed at removing 50 million pages annually from daily store-level inventory reporting.

Datawatch and Xerox started this project to help a major Canadian retailer transition to a digital environment across its national network of stores. The Xerox- Datawatch partnership will determine which inventory reports need to be printed and which can be stored electronically.  The partnership solution is “a valuable application that can be expanded and used in a much broader fashion moving forward,” noted Ben Plummer, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of strategic alliances, Datawatch.

“Xerox and Datawatch’s role is to try to eliminate the amount of paper being created and from that get more value out of the data that is being stored and managed in that process,” said Plummer.

Datawatch’s systems integration services and Visual Data Discovery Software and Xerox’s project management, process assessment and optimization services are the key components to this solution. Xerox’s services help large enterprises capture, store, manage and digitize business documents to improve workflow, while Datawatch’s services extract structured and unstructured data from transactional systems, and organizes it in an intelligent digital format for reporting and analysis.
