Informatica Opens Up Cloud-Based Data Integration with Usage-Based Pricing

Informatica Corporation, a data integration software provider, has launched Informatica Cloud Express, a cloud data integration service with usage-based pricing. Informatica Cloud Express pricing will start at $99 per month, which the company says will open the door for organizations of all sizes for access to data integration capabilities of Informatica Cloud.

Delivered as a multi-tenant cloud service, Informatica Cloud Express is designed to empower Salesforce administrators and operations staff to create, schedule and automate bi-directional cloud-to-on-premises integration tasks without coding and without requiring a hardware appliance.

Informatica Cloud Express is initially targeted at Salesforce.com customers, Darren Cunningham, vice president of cloud marketing for Informatica, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "For more complex requirements, including Salesforce integration with ERP applications, we offer Informatica Cloud Basic, Standard and Enterprise. We may extend usage-based billing to these other editions and to other vendors over time, but our initial focus is Salesforce.com as that is where we've seen the most demand."

As cloud integration needs become broader and more complex, Informatica Cloud Express customers will have the ability to upgrade to more advanced editions of Informatica Cloud. The advanced editions are available on an annual subscription basis, and support larger data volumes, as well as enabling broader data integration capabilities including data quality assessment, data replication, and interoperability with the Informatica Platform for advanced development and testing.

The vendor seeks to help address some of the most vexing issues with cloud-based data integration, including lack of awareness of capabilities. "We've seen two primary challenges with cloud-based data integration," says Cunningham. "There's a general lack and awareness, and, frankly, quite a bit of skepticism, that self-service data integration tools are available for users who are not necessarily technical. There's also a lack of alignment and collaboration between lines of business, divisions and departments who are drawn to cloud-based applications."
