Software Diversified Services (SDS) announced an update to its VitalSigns for Network Automation and Control (VNAC) solution (version 3.0), adding panel applications to its replacement for legacy mainframe tools.

VNAC can be installed in less than 2 hours, and doesn't entail any additional training for employees, the vendor says. VNAC software can respond to system or network messages with automated commands or Rexx automation scripts. VNAC 3.0 users can custom-code their own user panel applications, and easily adapt existing NetView REXX execs and NetView panels into VNAC. The result is an interface that combines the advantages of a modern browser window with the familiar mainframe green-screen interface.

"VitalSigns Network Control and Automation now allows companies to monitor, control and automate SNA networks with ease, taking advantage of the functions they use most often," says Jim Lampi, vice president of SDS. "We designed it to help companies stretch their network visibility and their budgets."

In addition, VNAC 3.0 enables users to view multiple system or network logs in a single consolidated view, and receive online help for all IBM messages and network sense codes. The solution provides process improvements over NetView NCCF, SDS adds.

More information is available from SDS.
