Beloit College released its annual list of students' "mindsets," and the computing experience of the class of 2014 shows how things have changed in two decades. For example, the list includes the fact that for incoming college students, "computers have never lacked a CD-ROM disk drive." How many readers remember computers with floppy disk drives only? While many youngsters are unfamiliar with mainframes or larger servers, IBM and SHARE are both concentrating on bringing along this generation to run tomorrow's data centers, and they will also surely bring a new perspective.
