Mainframe: Global Economy Growth Machine Across All Continents
Posted Nov 30, 2009 - November 30, 2009 Issue Print Version     Page 1of 1

IBM announced that the First National Bank of Namibia Ltd. is installing two System z10 Business Class mainframes to localize its banking systems and operations, as well as support new growth. The deal marks the first deployment of mainframe technology in Namibia. Previously, FNB Namibia, which is majority owned by FNB South Africa, had its server infrastructure and the data of more than 400,000 customers residing in South Africa. The mainframe-and the information technology it supports-is truly a global phenomenon, and is playing a critical role in advancing the economies of emerging markets that may have not even had paved roads until a few years ago.
