Sentilla Beefs Up Data Center Performance Management Solution

Sentilla Corporation is shipping a new release of its software platform for data center performance management, intended to deliver greater visibility, analysis and control of data center assets. Sentilla Version 5 is designed to enable IT professionals to accurately monitor and measure data center resources to ensure uptime, optimize performance, manage asset utilization, reduce power consumption, and defer capital costs.

The most important new feature in Sentilla v5 is the model-driven analysis and planning that analyzes possible application deployment strategies including dedicated, physical or virtual, and private or public cloud to assess their impact across multiple variables, Bob Ertl, senior director of product management at Sentilla, tells 5 Minute Briefing.  Customers can use this feature before implementation to evaluate cost and power consumption and other concerns. The model-driven analysis allows IT teams to predict the best deployment strategy as well as to present the basis for their decision to other executives who may in turn choose to input additional assumptions for consideration.

In addition, Sentilla v5 offers new predictive analytics metric libraries for resource utilization, consumption, peak demand, seasonality, capacity and costs; an improved user interface (UI) designed for rapid installation and ease-of-use; new web- and mobile device-based analysis and planning dashboards for performance, location and power consumption; enhanced support for storage devices; a new asset connector SDK for 3rd party integration and additional asset support; and distributed data center support

“Customers come to us with a very specific goal, which is to achieve high performance in their data center,” observes Anna Luo, senior director of product and channel marketing, Sentilla. To achieve this, she notes, they need unified granular visibility across all systems, including physical and virtual from a single pane of glass, as well as continuous performance analysis with insight into issues such as headroom, usage, peak demand and load limits, enabling them to do what-if planning and capacity management to evaluate risk before deployment.  “The bottom line is that Sentilla minimizes risk and optimizes capability and capacity within the existing infrastructure, whether physical, virtual or cloud, enabling you to offer more service faster with what you already have.”
