Platfora Raises $30 Million in Growth-Stage Financing

Platfora has added $30 million in growth-stage financing from new investors HSBC and Harmony Partners, with participation from earlier-stage backers, including Allegis Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Battery Ventures, Citi Ventures, Cisco, Sutter Hill Ventures and Tenaya Capital. This new round brings Platfora’s total amount raised to $95 million.

Platfora provides a big data discovery platform built natively on Apache Hadoop and Spark that enables business users and data scientists to visually interact with petabyte-scale data so they can work with even raw forms of transaction, customer interaction and machine data to find new opportunities and manage risk.

By combining traditionally separate tools – analytics, business intelligence, data visualization, data preparation and in-memory acceleration – Platfora says its big data discovery platform significantly reduces project completion time for customers.

In the past year, companies such as AutoTrader, Citi,, Disney,, Kelley Blue Book, Karma (Fisker), Opower, Riot Games, Sears, TiVo and Vivint have leveraged Platfora for customer marketing, behavioral analysis, security, IoT and other common big data use cases.
