CAPI is Core to IBM POWER

In a new blog post Bruce Wile, Chief Engineer, CAPI, writes about the significance of CAPI (Coherent Accelerator Processor Interface) to the POWER8 Systems.

“The POWER8 processor offers significant advantages including the ability to run concurrent queries, better speed than x86, the ability to handle 1TB of memory, and more memory bandwidth and more on-chip cache than x86,” Wile writes. “Behind the scenes, a critical contributor to the innovation made possible with POWER is the new Coherent Accelerator Processor Interface (CAPI). Introduced on the IBM POWER8 systems, CAPI enables a new approach to improving system-level performance.”
