AWS Joins Cloud Native Computing Foundation as Platinum Member

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has joined the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) as a platinum member.

As part of the membership, Adrian Cockcroft, VP of Cloud Architecture Strategy at AWS, will join CNCF’s Governing Board.

CNCF provides a neutral home for open source projects like Kubernetes, containerd, CNI, and linkerd, noted Cockcroft.

With the new membership, AWS expects to increase its role in these communities and the overall cloud native ecosystem.

Amazon has contributed to many other open source projects, including Linux kernel, Docker, Apache Hive, Apache Hadoop, Chromium, jQuery, OpenMPI, and Apache MXNet.

Amazon joined the Linux Foundation in 2013, is a founding member of the Core Infrastructure Initiative and also contributes to several other Linux Foundation projects, including the Xen Project, Open Container Initiative, and the TODO Group.
