BMC Launches New Version of Mainframe Data Tool, Service Management Tool

BMC is rolling out BMC Database Solutions with Next Generation Technology (NGT), targeted at DB2 for z Systems to meet 24x7 infrastructure demands and reduce database management costs.

“The digital transformation is creating incredible challenges for DB2 environments that must cope with increasing data volumes and the complexity of unstructured data,” said Jonathan Adams, vice president and general manager of ZSolutions Optimization at BMC. “The addition of Next Generation Technology and the new solutions for managing modern data give BMC a generational leap forward in data management while also solidifying our z Systems market leadership.”

BMC NGT is designed to meet the challenges of the new digital demands on DB2 data management with reductions in costs, effort and time spent on managing data.

BMC is also announcing two new additions to its family of database solutions for managing modern data with NGT, BMC Utility Manager and BMC LOBMaster. BMC Utility Manager ensures more consistent performance with customer applications, and BMC LOBMaster ensures digital applications’ unstructured data remains stable.

BMC Database Solutions with Next Generation Technology are 24x7 utilities designed for large data and transaction volumes.

In a separate announcement, BMC introduced its Remedy 9 service management platform, intended as a first step in helping digitally advanced businesses achieve new levels of productivity and competitiveness.

The tool’s Smart Reporting offers insights to decisions through the creation of custom reports and dashboards. Remedy 9 is built mobile first – leveraging touch screens, predictive text, barcode scanners, GPS and push notifications – to bring the power of the service desk to any device. BMC solicited input from more than 700 users and 170 customers to create an intuitive, engaging role-based user experience that improves productivity.

The platform is built on a new Java codebase, intended to deliver enterprise-scale performance alongside RESTful APIs.
