Big Data Innovation Center in Singapore is Backed by Dell, Intel, and Revolution Analytics

Dell, Intel Corporation, and Revolution Analytics have announced the launch of the Big Data Innovation Center in Singapore. Merging the expertise of these three enterprises, the center provides extensive training programs, proof-of-concept capabilities and solution development support on big data and predictive analytic innovations for Asian markets.

Housed at the Dell Solution Center (DSC) in Singapore, the Big Data Innovation Center will provide training on a big data stack that includes Dell infrastructure using Intel Xeon E5 processor-based servers, Intel 10GbE networking and Intel Solid State Drives with Cache Acceleration Software, the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop Software and Revolution Analytics Enterprise R predictive analytics software. “We needed a platform to better showcase the capabilities of big data, Hadoop and Revolution R to customers so an opportunity came about to create this sector jointly,” Laurence Liew, managing director of Revolution Analytics Asia-Pacific, tells 5 Minute Briefing. Revolution Analytics will also use the center to offer a big data analytics platform to train professionals to become data scientists.

The Big Data InnovationCenter provides the platform for companies to test-run big data initiatives and proof-of-concepts for deployment. Participants will be equipped with the necessary skills to improve the quality of data mining across a wider range of platforms from a larger pool of sources. “Analytics was identified as a key technology that will help position Singapore in a very competitive market. They are aggressively trying to build up their capabilities, getting companies like ourselves to set up offices, especially innovation centers, in Singapore,” Liew explains. In addition to the regular training courses, candidates can also attend seminars, workshops and events hosted at the Dell Solution Center.
