Data Virtualization Benefits Come to ETL Process with New Queplix Products

Queplix Corp., a provider of data virtualization solutions, has announced two new product families to bring the benefits of data virtualization to ETL (extract, transform and load). According to Queplix, the VirtualETL and CloudETL families simplify the ETL process, enabling users to configure Queplix's Application Software Blades, providing easy connections to target applications and reducing the time required to integrate applications.

The VirtualETL family includes enterprise-class VirtualETL, which allows ETL teams to connect any two enterprise applications together, and professional-class VirtualETL, which allows users to connect any two applications that use relational database management systems. With CloudETL, users can connect any two cloud-based applications or connect a cloud-based application with one that is on-premise.

Queplix has had this capability as part of its Virtual Data Manager product since the inception, Mark Cashman, CEO of Queplix, tells 5 Minute Briefing. However, with these releases, instead of getting the full-blown capabilities of the Virtual Data Manager, Queplix is specifically targeting users who are primarily interested in doing extract, transform and load, he explains. "You are not going to get all of the data governance and compliance and feature sets that you would get in the Virtual Data Manager platform. This is specifically around moving objects from point A to point B in a very efficient fashion."

The ability to use data virtualization enables ETL teams to mix any combination of relational, object, cloud or XML-based applications, and they don't need to use SQL to set up connectivity, define the transforms, normalize the data, tune data quality or get the integration into production, according to the vendor. Organizations also get a recorded history of what ETL transactions have been invoked, so they know what data has been moved and where, says Cashman.

With enterprise-class VirtualETL, for example, an SAP application may be connected with any other single enterprise application or customer application that uses any relational database. Users can choose from any of Queplix's Application Software Blades to license and configure a VirtualETL system that meets their needs.

Professional-class VirtualETL products allow users to connect any two applications that use relational database management systems. These applications are generally custom developed and do not have an API; they may be Sybase ASE, Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or IBM DB2, in any combination. The products include a license for a Queplix Application Software Blade for the necessary relational databases.

CloudETL lets users connect any two cloud-based applications or connect a cloud-based application with a relational database application that is not cloud-based. CloudETL includes a license for any two Queplix Application Software Blades required.

Both VirtualETL and CloudETL include optional bundles of professional services that make it easy for users to get to production quickly. The Queplix professional services team or certified Queplix partners can optionally provide cost-effective support to those who need it.
