Datacore Receives SAP Certification for Storage Virtualization

Datacore, a provider of software-defined storage and hyperconverged virtual storage area network (SAN) solutions, is now certified by SAP to provide storage virtualization for SAP-certified enterprise storage solutions that can be used by the SAP HANA platform.

Now that SANsymphony-V, a storage virtualization solution that operates across multiple vendors’ storage systems, is certified customers that leverage the functionality and flexibility of SANsymphony-V with the SAP HANA platform for real-time computing can benefit from the accelerated integration, reduced support requirements, and improved technical alignment that can result from choosing to use solutions that have been tested and certified for integration.

DataCore SANsymphony-V storage virtualization is only SAP-certified when running on a separate compute node and used together with an SAP-certified storage solution from Fujitsu, Huawei, IBM, Dell, NEC, Nimble Storage, Pure Storage, Fusion-io, Violin Memory, EMC, NetApp, HP or Hitachi. The certification is for up to 16 nodes running SAP HANA on systems running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.

Customers will gain several benefits from the certification of DataCore SANsymphony-V for SAP HANA environments, explained Augie Gonzalez, director of product marketing at DataCore.

First, the certification helps customers avoid a single vendor lock-in, Gonzalez said.“DataCore is the first software-defined storage solution certified to operate across multiple vendors’ SAP HANA-certified storage systems,” Gonzalez said.

Customers will also achieve a shorter time to load data into the in-memory database from persistent storage due  to DataCore’s adaptive caching and parallel I/O processing, an mix of flash and disk storage devices through DataCore auto-tiering across SAP HANA certified storage systems, and simplified provisioning of highly-available storage resources, according to Gonzlez.
