HiT Software Releases Updates to ODBC and OLE DB Connectivity Products for IBM DB2 Platforms

HiT Software, a provider of database access, integration and replication technology, has announced the newest release of a family of ODBC and OLE DB connectivity products optimized for the IBM DB2 v.9 environment including IBM DB2 for z/OS, and IBM DB2 for Windows, Unix, and Linux. HiT ODBC and OLE DB connectivity products now offer full compatibility with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008, allowing developers and programmers to capitalize on Microsoft's advanced features for data scalability and application development, making them fully available to IBM DB2 v.9 systems.

"HiT Software has been a strong partner of IBM's for a long time and we focus on high performance, small footprint connectivity products for the DB2 platform," Carolyn Hughes, director of marketing for HiT Software, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "Our latest release enables developers to easily access DB2 data right in Visual Studio, offers a small footprint, and provides better support for SQL Server developers. This enables customers to leverage their investments in DB2, especially those running on mainframes or Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems. We also support encryption in these drivers for application development outside of the firewall."

The HiT Software ODBC or OLEDB products enable users to take advantage of features including use of native IBM protocols, non-invasive software installation, support for secure data transmission, extensive toolsets for diagnostic and monitoring activities, and developer editions with source code examples. The OLEDB products fully support Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2005, with features for linked servers including open query syntax, heterogeneous joins and stored procedure calls with output parameters. Both HiT ODBC and HiT OLEDB connectivity products support full SQL functionality including pooling and connection load management, stored procedures, multiple result sets, multi-threading, ODBC level 3.x conformance, and error reporting.
