Instana Extends Auto-Instrumentation to 8 Languages with Addition of PHP

Instana, a provider of APM solutions for monitoring dynamic containerized microservice applications, has announced functional enhancements around code-level visibility and monitoring to help make it faster and easier for DevOps to monitor microservice applications.

The enhancements include automatic instrumentation for applications written in PHP, adding to Instana’s leading no-configuration, no-restart instrumentation support for Java, .NET, Ruby, Scala, Go, NodeJS and Crystal.

The company also announced the addition of REST API support to its Python Monitoring capabilities.

Polyglot microservice applications are becoming more prevalent, meaning that DevOps teams need as much monitoring automation as possible, especially with their application management tools, according to Pete Abrams, Instana co-founder and COO.

By providing code-level visibility for PHP that requires no server re-starts or configuration, Instana is  allowing DevOps teams to be more autonomous while also becoming more efficient in their monitoring of production applications, Abrams added.

Instana’s AI Powered APM solution automates the management of critical business applications, including those running in cloud, containers, microservices, or serverless environments. The solution leverages automation and AI to monitor, visualize, and understand application performance for dynamic containerized microservice applications. Continuous discovery and mapping provides real-time infrastructure and application service visualization, even under constant change.
