Learn How Blockchain Changes Everything at Data Summit 2018 in Boston

Blockchain is a new database technology and it is poised to have a big impact in a diverse array of industries. Widely known as the underlying technology for cryptocurrencies, blockchain transcends that narrow niche. A distributed ledger system, blockchain technology can benefit government and corporate transactions as well.

Ensuring integrity and trust among entities, blockchain can help track the movement of goods and services, and data itself, from beginning to end, to provide an immutable record that spans in agriculture, from seed to grower to grocery store; in healthcare, from medical test to patient treatment across dispersed treatment facilities; and in manufacturing, from auto parts to car factory to dealer.

Who will blockchain benefit most? What do you need to know now? Where do you start? Why should it be used in the enterprise? How does it really work? With blockchain use at the very earliest stages, these are some of the questions being asked.

To shed light on critical issues and concerns and to provide attendees with a firm grasp of fundamental blockchain concepts, Data Summit 2018 will present a 3-hour blockchain workshop led by Paul Tatro, founder of Blockchain U Online, author of “Blockchain Unchained The Illustrated Guide to Understanding Blockchain," and host of the “Blockchain U Unchained Hour,” a weekly radio show on Blockchain.Radio.

Data Summit 2018 will take place at the Hyatt Regency Boston, May 22-23, with pre-conference workshops on Monday, May 21. Cognitive Computing Summit will also be co-located at the event.

Tatro will present the Introduction to Blockchain workshop on Monday, May 21, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Tatro plans to cover six general topics, starting with what blockchain is and why anyone should care about it, and moving on to how it works, including the mechanics and how it fends off hacker attacks, how a blockchain knows who people are, the use of smart contracts, the evaluation criteria of blockchain solutions, including questions that should be asked, and use cases for a variety of fields. Tatro plans to conclude his presentation by looking at the future of blockchain including the potential challenges and what needs to happen to enable broaden adoption.

“Blockchain is a very unique technology—there is no predecessor technology  for which blockchain is the next evolution, so it provides a completely different way to think about applications,” says Tatro.
