OpenText Introduces Next-Gen Hybrid Cloud Platform OpenText OT2

OpenText, a provider of enterprise information management (EIM) software, has announced the release of OpenText OT2, its next-generation hybrid-cloud platform that brings together automation, security, and EIM applications in a unified platform. The new release was announced at OpenText Enterprise World 2018 in Toronto.

Customers are looking to move faster into the cloud, and today, all industries are looking for a stable and secure hybrid-cloud infrastructure for their information management, including sectors such as manufacturing, financial services, legal, life sciences, and government, said Mark J. Barrenechea, vice-chair, CEO and CTO, OpenText.

According to Barrenechea, the new release enables simplification by delivering applications for business users—hybrid-cloud based EIM applications supported by modern micro-services—on a single SaaS platform. Applications in OpenText OT2 will be tightly integrated with OpenText Release 16. Whether sharing information internally and externally by integrating OpenText Core and OpenText Documentum, or managing contracts by integrating Contract Center and OpenText Extended ECM, customers will get a single solution from OpenText, he noted.

With a unified data model and a standard user interface, OpenText OT2 enables developers to build SaaS applications in the OpenText Cloud. OpenText OT2 brings together micro-services for content collaboration, security, process automation, and analytics, enabling customers and partners to rapidly develop and deploy powerful business applications to drive digital transformation further into their operations.

Available now, the OpenText OT2 platform will have quarterly releases, with all applications being tightly integrated with OpenText Release 16.

At OpenText Enterprise World 2018, the company’s annual conference, OpenText is also showcasing OpenText Quality, an application designed to meet the needs of the highly-regulated life sciences industry, and OpenText Legal, a cloud EIM app that integrates with OpenText eDOCS to manage client onboarding and document sharing.

The launch marks OpenText’s emergence as “a true applications and platform company,” said Muhi Majzoub, executive vice president, Engineering and IT, at OpenText.

OpenText is also opening its cloud infrastructure to select members of its partner ecosystem, a move that the company says will enable systems integrators to create and market applications on the OpenText cloud, helping to further extend OpenText’s reach.

OpenText OT2 is available now. OpenText Quality and OpenText Legal will be generally available in the second half of 2018.
