On May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will officially replace the EU’s existing Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC, commonly referred to as “DPD.” GDPR is the largest and widest data privacy act in history, and it comes with draconian consequences: up to 20 million euros, or 4% of annual global turnover (whichever is greater).
