Cisco has announced its intent to acquire Tidal Software, Inc., a privately held data center management provider. Tidal's intelligent application management and automation solutions that will advance Cisco's aggressive data center strategy, a Cisco spokesperson says. Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will pay approximately $105 million in cash and retention-based incentives.

HP has announced enhancements to its Business Service Automation (BSA) software suite, intended to help companies better manage and reduce operational costs associated with virtualized data centers.

SOA Software, a provider of SOA management solutions, has launched SOLA for IMS transactions, a mainframe SOA solution. SOLA, an enterprise SOA platform, provides processes to expose mainframe applications as secure Web services, and enables mainframe applications to consume web services.

Software AG, a provider of business infrastructure software, and Proginet Corporation, a supplier of global file transfer software, announced they are jointly shipping a solution for managed file transfer within Software AG's webMethods Suite for SOA governance.

Veryant, a COBOL and Java technology vendor, announced that Transoft, a data access platform provider, is enabling Veryant users to make their converted ISAM files available to a range of new platforms.
