BMC, a provider of data center solutions, has added new enterprise-grade benefits to the Remedyforce solution to bring an agile approach to managing and delivering IT, especially for companies looking to gain a competitive edge as they digitally transform.

Docker has announced the latest release of Docker Enterprise Edition (EE), a container as a service (CaaS) platform for managing and securing Windows, Linux, and mainframe applications across both on premises and cloud infrastructure.

Fujitsu has launched a new operating system designed to underline the long-term relevance of mainframes as the backbone of the digital world with more advanced, high availability, interoperability, security and maintenance features.

IBM has rolled out new data protection software intended to help simplify data recovery. IBM Spectrum ProtectPlus can be set up quickly making data protection available in as little as one hour, the company said.

At this week's VMworld event, VMware announced new releases of VMware Integrated OpenStack and VMware vRealize Network Insight to help companies modernize their data centers. In addition, the vendor announced it will soon be deployable on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Think About It

A survey of 502 executives, conducted by IDC in partnership with InterSystems, finds that there's a penalty for data latency. More than three in four respondents (77%) say that untimely data has inhibited business opportunities. Another 54% of respondents claim it limits operational efficiency. In addition, 27% indicate it has negatively affected productivity/agility, and 15% say it thwarts their understanding of customers.
