Avaya and IBM announced an expansion of their alliance relationship to deliver unified communications solutions backed by newly Avaya-certified security products for enterprise clients and government organizations, worldwide. The two companies also plan to focus support on Avaya Aura—Avaya's new unified communications architecture—by incorporating Avaya Aura into existing IBM converged communications services.

B&L Associates, Inc., a provider of open systems tape management solutions, announced the release of Vertices 5.1, the newest version of its flagship tape and media management software solution.

Clerity, a provider of mainframe migration and modernization solutions, announced today that its UniKix mainframe rehosting software suite now supports Microsoft Windows Server 2008. Clerity's mainframe rehosting software provides an environment for deploying online and batch mainframe CICS, IMS, IDMS, Adabas, Natural, and other legacy assets on open, standards-based systems. By leveraging existing applications, skill sets, and data investments, Clerity states, its technology reduces ongoing IT costs from 30% to 70% and optimizes legacy investments without diminishing current functionality or adding risk into the migration process.

IBM announced a new social networking community, called PartnerWorld Communities, designed to help partners more easily connect and collaborate with each other from anywhere around the world to bring new technologies to market and close sales faster and more efficiently.

NEC Corporation of America, a provider of IT, network and identity management solutions, announced the addition of application-aware deduplication to its grid storage platform, NEC HYDRAstor. HYDRAstor application-aware deduplication further optimizes data deduplication efficiency by analyzing incoming data streams and filtering application level metadata to eliminate its negative impact on deduplication rates.

NEC Unified Solutions, a provider of enterprise business communications, announced UC for Enterprise (UCE) Collaboration, a video and web conferencing and collaboration application designed to help enterprises make remote contact with customers and employees.

Syncsort, a provider of data integration software, and Attunity, Ltd., a provider of real-time data integration and event capture, have formed a strategic partnership targeted at helping customers solve complex real-time data integration challenges.
