Network Instruments, a provider of analysis solutions for network intelligence and continuous availability, announced today that its Observer monitoring platform now provides visibility and in-depth analysis of application performance and traffic within both virtualized and physical environments.

CA has introduced new versions of its storage resource management software for mainframe and distributed systems to help customers manage storage environments and address data protection and compliance objectives.

At an IBM-hosted Webinar, executives from IBM's WebSphere and Rational units helped outline ways enterprises can leverage these tools and platforms to reduce costs and increase efficiency through the current economic climate.

IBM announced it has teamed up with QLogic, a provider of high-performance networking solutions, to offer the ability to run a full 8 gigabit (Gb) Fibre Channel data center from the blade to switch and to storage. The new end-to-end technology will be featured on the entire family of IBM BladeCenter offerings and deliver transfer rates up to twice as fast as current blade servers.
