Oracle has introduced new releases of its business intelligence products including Oracle Business Intelligence, Oracle Business Intelligence Applications and Oracle Real-Time Decisions. The new capabilities include out-of-the-box iPad and iPhone support, extended OLAP and in-memory platform support, enhanced real-time decision management features, and new certifications.

Pervasive Software Inc., a provider of data integration solutions, has launched an online marketplace and community that is intended to fill a market void by providing simplification, ease of access and a public marketplace for data integration products, solutions, connectors, plug-ins and templates. Pervasive Galaxy is intended to serve as a community platform for data integration ecosystems to enable simple, profitable convergence between business-to-business integration producers and consumers through faster market and social connection. "It's Bazaar Voice, iTunes, and App Store, all rolled into one mashup," Ron Halversen, director of integration marketing, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "Galaxy is an app exchange for connectors."

The PostgreSQL project has released the first beta of version 9.1. This beta release contains all of the features which will be in the final release, which is expected to be released 2 to 4 months from now, sometime between July and September. According to the PostgreSQL project team, PostgreSQL 9.1 contains a "huge volume" of new features, possibly more than any single release of PostgreSQL before. The overarching theme of the new release is innovation - "not just new to us but new to anybody," Josh Berkus, PostgreSQL core team member, tells 5 Minute Briefing.

Radiant Logic, a provider of identity and context virtualization solutions, has released the Cloud Federation Service (CFS) for its RadiantOne Identity and Context Virtualization platform. The solution federates disparate identity sources, and securely delivers claims to cloud-based applications supporting SAML 1.1 and 2.0. The CFS connects multiple Active Directory domains and forests, as well as other identity sources (LDAP, SQL, web services), with applications such as Sharepoint 2010, Google apps, Salesforce, and Workday. There are a number of drivers for the new solution, Dieter Schuller, vice president of sales and business development at Radiant Logic, tells 5 Minute Briefing. For one, the borders between the varying constituents that an organization serves are starting to become blurred, Schuller explains.

BMC Software has acquired Coradiant Inc., an end-user experience and web application performance monitoring technology vendor. According to BMC, the acquisition enhances its ability to offer businesses a complete view of service performance - from end-user experience and behavior to infrastructure. The new BMC End User Experience Management solution based on Coradiant's technology enables business and IT service managers to see and understand how application performance affects end-user behavior and ultimately the business by providing complete visibility into real-time, end-to-end performance of enterprise, cloud and SaaS-based applications. Red Gate Software, a provider of tools for Microsoft technology professionals, says it will provide free perpetual licenses for current .NET Reflector 6.x users who upgrade to version 6.8. The free version of .NET Reflector was previously planned to expire at the end of May.

Starcounter, based in Stockholm, Sweden, has announced its patent-pending VMDBMS technology, which the company says is designed to improve database performance. According to the company, the key features of Starcounter is that it is a general-purpose transactional database (OLTP), ACID-compliant, memory-centric, object database, with SQL support.

IBM says it is collaborating with the Yale School of Management Center for Customer Insights on an academic initiative that will provide analytics and training resources to MBA students.
