At the Cloud Economic Summit in San Francisco, a new consortium called the FinOps Foundation was announced to share best practices for managing the cost of cloud computing. According to the foundation, cloud spending is now a material amount of total IT spend. Similar to the way DevOps ushered in a new way of thinking about development and operations, the foundation says, the FinOps operating model is a combination of systems, best practices, and culture that aims to bring financial accountability to the variable spend model of cloud.

ParallelM, a provider of machine learning operationalization (MLOps) software, has released a new version of MCenter that includes REST-based serving using Kubernetes to create a no-code, autoscaling infrastructure for model serving supporting the leading modeling frameworks.

VAST Data has emerged from stealth with a new storage architecture intended to eliminate infrastructure complexity and application bottlenecks. VAST says its exabyte-scale Universal Storage system is built from high-performance flash media and features several innovations that result in a total cost of acquisition that is equivalent to hard drive-based archive systems.
