Rogue Wave Software, provider of cross-platform software development tools, has partnered with Bright Computing to deliver Rogue Wave's TotalView advanced debugger in the Bright Cluster Manager product. Bright Computing customers will receive a scalable, multi-core debugger with both reverse and memory functions to boost productivity and shorten development lifecycles. This is being offered to Bright Computing customers via registration and download.

Expanding its position in the cloud computing market segment, IBM announced plans to acquire SoftLayer Technologies, Inc., a privately held cloud computing infrastructure provider headquartered in Dallas, Texas. IBM also announced the formation of a new Cloud Services division. Following the close of the acquisition of SoftLayer, which is expected in 3Q 2013, the new division will combine SoftLayer with IBM SmartCloud into a global platform.

TIBCO Software Inc., a provider of enterprise infrastructure software, has released free software and a community site aimed at R developers tasked with broadening the use of predictive analytics in the enterprise. TIBCO Enterprise Runtime for R Developers Edition is a free version that is available to the entire Open Source R community, while the TERR Community Site provides enterprise developers with community-based technical support and a peer forum to help them build and deploy analytics for their organization.

Cloudera, provider of Apache Hadoop-based software and services has partnered with VMware, a provider of virtualization and cloud infrastructure solutions. Cloudera Enterprise is now certified to run on VMware VSphere. Through the VMware Ready program, VMware and Cloudera completed a joint validation process, enabling enterprises to simplify and accelerate the use of Apache Hadoop within virtual and cloud environments.

Trillium Software, a provider of enterprise data quality software and services, and Collibra, a provider of data governance software, have formed an alliance to address the demand for data governance initiatives and enable customers to leverage data as a strategic asset.
