With pressure on organizations to develop, integrate and deploy web applications at a rapid pace, web application issues are an all-too-common problem that could be avoided if better testing was done prior to going live, according to research results released by the Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG), the world's largest knowledgebase for Oracle Applications users.

Pentaho Corporation, a commercial open source business intelligence and data integration software vendor, has announced the release of Pentaho BI Suite Version 3.5, which includes new report and dashboard design capabilities for both business and IT users, as well as technical and packaging changes to enable broad use of Pentaho for embedded business intelligence by OEMs and SaaS providers. Sentrigo, Inc., a database security software vendor, has announced a substantial expansion of its Hedgehog database activity monitoring and intrusion prevention suite. The Hedgehog software provides full-visibility database activity monitoring and real-time protection and has been adopted by numerous Global 2000 companies to defend mission-critical data against insider misuse as well as outsider intrusion. With this release, Hedgehog 3.0 now supports Microsoft SQL Server 2008 running on Windows Server 2008, in addition to already supported SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2000 running on earlier Windows platforms. Additionally, Hedgehog vPatch, Sentrigo's virtual patching solution, now includes dozens of additional protections specific to SQL Server. Hedgehog 3.0 also provides several enhancements based on customer input, specifically to meet the accelerating demand for database monitoring to satisfy regulatory requirements.

Stratavia, an independent provider of data center automation and cloud enablement software solutions, has announced the release of the Sybase Migration Data Center Automation Application, a software solution aimed at enabling organizations to make an error-free migration from Sybase database environments to their choice of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or IBM DB2 database platforms. Stratavia customers can now automate the migration of Sybase database objects, code and data from a centralized location, while also enabling self-service access for application teams to begin their testing without impacting migration timelines.

Think About It

As the U.S. markets strive for a recovery in 2009, many IT managers are cringing at the thought of managing their data through what may be a record year of mergers and acquisitions.
