The survey was conducted in May 2010 by Unisphere Research, a division of Information Today, Inc., and was sponsored by Oracle Corporation. Prior to this survey, a study of the IOUG members' information security practices was first conducted by Unisphere Research in 2008, and then again in 2009. While most respondents to the 2010 survey say they are increasing their investments in security and putting in place measures to protect their information, many also feel that these safeguards are not sufficient, according to the research. Among other troubling findings from the 2010 survey, is that close to two out of five respondents' organization ship live production data out to development teams and outside parties, yet more than one-third admit that the data is unprotected or that they simply don't know if it is protected. In many cases that data consists of sensitive or confidential information.

The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) has announced a number of new offerings at Oracle OpenWorld 10 starting Sunday, Sept. 19.

Oracle has introduced Oracle GoldenGate 11g and Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition 11g, new releases of the two products that form the foundation of Oracle's data integration product line. Oracle GoldenGate 11g delivers real-time data integration and continuous availability for mission-critical systems through its low-impact, low-latency data acquisition, distribution and delivery capabilities, and Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition 11g provides loading and transformation of data into a data warehouse environment through its high-performance extract, load and transform (E-LT) technology.

Think About It

Organizations turn to master data management (MDM) to solve many business problems - to reach compliance goals, improve customer service, power more accurate business intelligence, and introduce new products efficiently. In many cases, the need for an MDM implementation is dictated by the business challenge at hand, which knows no single data domain. Take a manufacturing customer, for example.
