To help organizations prevent internal and external attacks from reaching their enterprise database targets, Oracle has introduced Oracle Database Firewall, which is intended to act as the "first line of defense for databases." According to Oracle, the new software solution monitors database activity on the network to help prevent unauthorized access, SQL injections, privilege or role escalation, and other external and internal attacks in real time. "In the same way that most companies have deployed network firewalls to stop intruders from coming into their data centers," Vipin Samar, vice president of Database Security, Oracle, tells 5 Minute Briefing, "Oracle Database Firewall is blocking unauthorized traffic from getting to the database itself."

Think About It
Sybase recently shared the news that it has expanded its partnership with Samsung to deliver its Sybase Afaria Advanced Enterprise Security (AES) for Android, providing security and application management for Samsung's popular Galaxy S and Galaxy S II devices. "As more employees are empowered with mobile access to enterprise systems, applications and data through their device of choice, the requirement for IT to support the widening array of device types can be extremely complex and unwieldy," states Willie Jow, vice president, Enterprise Mobility, Sybase. "The combination of Samsung's leading devices and Sybase's best-in-class mobile device management and security solution now bring Android to the level enterprises require for full-scale deployments."
