New Products Worthy of Your Attention

In its seventh upgrade since March of 2004, Oracle unveiled version 3.1 of Oracle Application Express, its rapid application development tool for data-driven Web applications. Using only a Web browser and with limited programming experience, developers can build and deploy professional applications. Oracle Application Express is integrated with all editions of Oracle Database 11g and Oracle Database 10g. www.oracle.com

Embarcadero has unveiled PowerSQL, a new professional-grade SQL development tool, aimed at improving productivity for Eclipse application developers charged with SQL development. Embarcadero PowerSQL is the company’s fourth tool built on the Eclipse framework.Embarcadero PowerSQL is a SQL IDE that can be installed as an Eclipse plug-in or as a standalone application (Eclipse RCP). It offers native support for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase and DB2 for LUW, as well as JBDC support for other prominent DBMSs such as MySQL. www.embarcadero.com

Sybase iAnywhere has announced the release of Advantage Database Server 9, which offers enhanced FoxPro support, performance boosts for large transactions, reduced end-user configuration requirements. The release also adds key functionality including an SQL Debugger and 64-bit platform support. A part of Sybase’s embedded and workgroup database management portfolio, Advantage Database Server is a high performance embedded client/server data management system that provides both ISAM table-based and SQL-based data access, enabling application developers to easily chart a growth path for legacy database applications to modern techniques. www.advantagedatabase.com

Spotfire, a division of TIBCO Software, has announced the newest version of its flagship software, TIBCO Spotfire 2.1, to help customers and partners more easily create highly visual, interactive, and extremely fast business mashups adapted to their needs.  This latest release also includes new application programming interfaces which enable richer analytic and pervasive BI application development.  Spotfire 2.1 also offers significant new analytic capabilities and usability enhancements that make it easier for business professionals to find new insights in any information.  www.tibco.com

Business Objects, an SAP company and a provider of business performance optimization solutions, announced the availability of Xcelsius Engage 2008, a data presentation and dashboard tool. Xcelsius Engage uses Microsoft Excel as its data modeling foundation, enabling both technical and non-technical to create interactive data visualizations and dashboards. www.businessobjects.com

Ignify, a Microsoft Gold Certified partner and provider of e-commerce solutions for the mid-market and large enterprise business segment, has announced that its flagship e-commerce platform now integrates with all Microsoft Dynamics ERP product lines. Imperva, a leader in application data security and compliance, has announced that its SecureSphere Database Security Gateways now automatically identify and alert organizations to suspicious changes to sensitive database values right down to the row level. Sentrigo, an innovator in enterprise database security software, announced the availability of version 2.0 of Hedgehog, its database activity monitoring solution.
