IBM has introduced a suite of integrated software to help customers better manage the performance of IBM data warehouses. The new DB2 Warehouse Performance Management Suite provides advanced capabilities for reporting and analysis of data and system utilization that will help enterprises more quickly and easily deploy, manage and scale business intelligence and data warehouse applications. And in a relatively unusual arrangement for IBM, to further the capabilities of DB2 Warehouse Performance Management suite, the company has partnered with Appfluent Technology to deliver a solution that combines the performance optimization feature already available in DB2 Warehouse with the new performance monitoring feature that takes advantage of Appfluent’s monitoring and workload analysis software. www.ibm.com/bi and www.appfluent.com
Quest Software has announced the beta release of LiteSpeed 5.0. Part of Quest’s comprehensive database portfolio, LiteSpeed is a backup and recovery solution that allows DBAs to optimize their processes, minimize downtime and mitigate risk, while maintaining control over their environment.
