MITS
Report Version 1.1 Offers New Features and Functionality
MITS, developer
of advanced reporting and business intelligence software, has announced
that MITS Report 1.1 is now available. This new release offers enhanced
usability, security, greater flexibility, and access to more detailed
information. "MITS Report 1.0 was the core expression of MITS'
operational reporting concept and an opportunity to gather feedback
from partners and end-users. The development process for version
1.1 was about taking that core experience and building on it to
provide a truly innovative operational reporting tool," said
Gary Owen, MITS vice president of engineering and product development,
in making the announcement.
With this release,
users now have the ability to move entire columns within their reports
by simply dragging and dropping. This feature makes it easy for
users of all skill levels to reformat reports to meet their specific
needs. Additionally, MITS Report 1.1 offers more detailed security,
making it possible to restrict the view of rows with particular
values and columns as defined in a report source from users based
on their unique log-ins.
The new release
also offers increased flexibility, including the ability to email
Microsoft Excel spreadsheets generated from reports to other MITS
Report Users or external email addresses on a scheduled basis; the
ability for report definitions to be imported and exported from
MITS Report without their associated Report Source; the capability
for data to be filtered using additional qualifiers, such as, "Empty"
and "Is Not Empty" and text filtering supports "Begins
With" and "Ends With" qualifier options; the ability
to selectively replace, add, or delete Report Source records; the
ability for displayed data to be filtered using hidden columns;
as well as the ability for MITS Report to capture a new copy of
a dictionary item before processing Report Source Updates when underlying
expressions and headings used in a column changes during a batch
or nightly update process.
MITS Report
1.1 will also allow users access to more detailed information quickly
and easily by providing report details, detailed error messages,
improved detail suppression, column operations at a glance, and
last update duration. For more information, go to the MITS
Web site or email MITS.

Linux
Emerging as Most Popular MultiValue Platform
Linux is emerging
as the most popular Multivalue platform, according to a proprietary
study, The State of the MultiValue Marketplace 2007,
conducted by Unisphere Research and sponsored by Revelation Software,
InterSystems, and DesignBais. Currently, deployments of MultiValue-based
applications are evenly split between Linux and Windows. Projecting
the future, however, respondents indicated that the share of MultiValue
applications on Linux (or Unix) would rise to around 56 percent
and the share on Windows would correspondingly drop.
Unisphere
Research, the research unit of 5 Minute Briefing: MultiValue, conducted
the survey of the MultiValue community, which included end-users,
as well as value-added resellers (VARs), systems integrators (SIs),
and independent software vendors (ISVs). In total, 252 people participated.
About 40 percent of the respondents identified themselves as end-users
of MultiValue technology. The remaining 60 percent were VARs, SIs
and ISVs. The State of the MultiValue Marketplace 2007 is the most comprehensive study of today's MultiValue community.

Getting a Good Education
This month IBM
will begin conducting U2 University, its user conference and training
sessions for the MultiValue community. And in this issue, we have
news about Revelation's training sessions scheduled for September,
as well as the jBASE conference planned for Paris in November. These
training sessions serve several purposes. In addition to making
attendees aware of new possibilities opened up by the latest releases
of MultiValue technology, they are a good opportunity for peer-to-peer
networking for building business and technical relationships. But
perhaps most important, with the emergence of service-oriented architectures
and new ways to modernize MultiValue applications, these conferences
can help motivate the MultiValue community to play an important
role in the overall information infrastructure.
