NEED TO KNOW

Power, Performance and Price—Crowell Systems Incorporates Advanced Reporting into Medformix XXV

Crowell Systems, through a recent partnership with Management Information Tools, Inc. (MITS), will offer users of the Medformix XXV system integrated ad hoc reporting and the opportunity to further enhance the system with custom business intelligence analytics and dashboards. Crowell Systems is a leading provider of integrated clinical and organization management systems for the healthcare industry, servicing both single-site and larger, multi-site Ophthalmic and Allergy practices. The Medformix XXV enterprise medical solution offers a practical solution providing healthcare providers with the tools needed to better manage the process of delivering care through flexible, reliable and comprehensive practice management software and unparalleled after-sale service and support.

Based in Seattle, Wash., MITS is an established developer of top of the line reporting and analytics solutions for the MultiValue market and beyond. The MITS Report solution designed for operational reporting will be fully integrated into Crowell’s upcoming XXV release, comprising the Advanced Reporting module of the Medformix system. Furthermore, Crowell has coordinated with MITS to offer the flagship MITS Discover BI/OLAP product as a valuable add-on solution.

“We saw MITS for the first time at last year’s International Spectrum conference and were instantly impressed with MITS Discover and MITS Report,” states Crowell Systems president, Sally Crowell. “Working towards our own web-based version of Medformix, we appreciated the ease of use represented by the MITS browser based solutions.”

While there was an instant synergy between both organizations and offerings, pricing for MITS products had to be a fit for a majority of Crowell Systems' customers, and the MITS organization and products needed to pass an extensive reference check.

Finding positive feedback from existing MITS customers and resolving price concerns, leadership from Crowell and MITS’ teams collaborated with UK-based, Ladybridge Systems to get the MITS product line running on Ladybridge’s powerful OpenQM database. Sally Crowell comments, “It was our pleasure to introduce MITS to Ladybridge and be the catalyst for that relationship…. Both organizations [Ladybridge and MITS] have been so responsive and really listened to our needs, helping us address the needs of our customers and really making this integration project work.”

Bringing Advanced Reporting and MITS Discover to select customers has generated positive initial reactions. One key customer has stated that with the integration of Advanced Reporting, there would not be another product on the market that could come close to the power of Medformix XXV. Sally Crowell follows, “Earning the trust of our core customers and power users is not taken lightly. With this feedback in mind we look forward to offering MITS solutions to the rest of this peer group and our customer base as a whole.”

The Medformix XXV system—including Advanced Reporting—and MITS Discover for Medformix is currently available from Crowell Systems. For more information contact your Crowell Systems representative.

Revelation Announces Winter/Spring Training Schedule Showcasing OpenInsight

Revelation Software has announced its winter/spring 2009 training schedule, with a variety of classes on OpenInsight, Revelation’s flagship product. OpenInsight is a repository-based development environment that provides professional development teams the means to rapidly design, implement, evolve and scale high performance business applications with access to SQL Server, a wide range of industry-standard databases through ODBC, Lotus Notes databases, and Revelation’s Native Tables. The net result is that developers can deliver applications to their customers and users that meet the needs of a dynamically changing business environment.

Revelation expects to announce general availability of OpenInsight 9.0 in just a few weeks. “We have just released what we think is our last beta,” Mike Ruane, president and CEO of Revelation, tells 5 Minute Briefing. “The results that we are getting from our beta testers seem to prove that out. Hopefully—if we don’t give our user community an early Christmas present—it will go out on or about January 1.” The current beta is the eighth since the beginning of September, he adds.

“There are guys testing all over the world—from the UK to all across the states, down to South America, to South Africa and to Australia, so there are a lot of people testing a lot of different things,” says Ruane. The new release contains over 4,500 changed or new entities within the product.

Kicking off the new year, Revelation’s January classes will include "Introduction to Development in OpenInsight," "Intermediate Development in OpenInsight," and "What's New In OpenInsight 9.0." For more information about the complete schedule and to register, go here.

Data Management Associates Inc. to Offer MITS Solutions to their MACH Software Users

MITS, provider of Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) business intelligence and operational reporting solutions, and Data Management Associates Inc., creators of the multi-channel order management system MACH Software, have announced a new reseller agreement aimed at providing business intelligence capabilities and advanced reporting to their MACH Software clients.

For more than a decade, the MITS Discover OLAP Business Intelligence System has remained the business intelligence market leader for MultiValue platforms. The company’s operational reporting solution, MITS Report, provides users an ad hoc reporting tool optimized for sorting, filtering and summarizing data. All MITS solutions capitalize on a user-friendly web interface and are designed to help end-users and IT staff increase productivity and better understand their business.

The MACH order management system is designed to provide users a fully integrated solution that meets and exceeds the expanding needs of Catalog, Web and POS operations. It is in this spirit that DMA is pleased to present MACH users with custom reporting and analytics solutions developed by MITS.

“With an enterprise system like MACH—where cross-functional areas of a business are integrated at the data and application level—the data generated through the system can be extensive and detailed,” explains George Farnell, DMA’s vice president of business development. “After assessing the MITS product line, its was plain to see that MITS Report and MITS Discover would make it easy for our clients to access and work with that data.”

The MITS family of solutions provides an interactive reporting and analysis experience for business users needing rapid access to information. By utilizing a web-browser interface MITS Report and MITS Discover are able to put the power of reporting directly into the hands of business users. MITS solutions complement DMA’s commitment to increasing productivity and aiding growth, specifically in terms of man hours saved, by significantly minimizing or eliminating time spent by technical staff building, generating and modifying custom reports. In addition to decreased reporting turn around time, MITS removes the computational overhead required to access data from the transactional system and places critical data in an environment optimized for reporting and analysis.

“The dynamic environment of catalog and multi-channel sales is a perfect fit for MITS Discover and MITS Report,” states MITS president, Fred Owen. “Furthermore, we feel that DMA is an ideal partner to bring MITS solutions to this market because of the technical expertise and industry knowledge they provide.”

DMA’s president, Randy Nettling, adds, “By combining the interactive reporting capabilities of MITS Report and MITS Discover with MACH Software’s extensive business applications, our clients can quickly generate the custom analytical reports they need to understand their business’ success.”

Utilizing MITS Discover to access data in the MACH system results in quick analysis of key business data and makes it easy for managers and decision-makers to identify customer buying habits and promotional opportunities, and evaluate or compare the effectiveness of current marketing initiatives or campaigns over time. MITS Report provides management and front line staff a straightforward solution to create operational reports such as lists based on customer demographics or inventory information. MITS and DMA agree that armed with this information, MACH clients will have the power to effectively respond to the changing business environment.
