Today's database administrator has a broad set of responsibilities. Not only is he responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and repair of his organization's databases, often he is tasked with programming, analyzing and modeling data, and systems management. This paper takes a look at a day in the life of a typical multi-tasking DBA working for an organization, and examines some of the tools and best practices he can use to be more productive and efficient in completing essential tasks.
