International Sybase User Group Announces 2010 Technical Journal Award Winners

The International Sybase User Group has announced the winners of its 2010 ISUG Technical Journal Award. This award is given annually to the best technical writers that its user magazine has featured over the past 12 months. ISUG Technical Journal is a monthly online and print publication devoted to providing comment and analysis on Sybase tools and technologies.

"Because of the unique way that ISUG Technical Journal is built, we are able to provide a combination of both internal Sybase commentators and external third-party consultants and industry experts to users all round the world," said Adrian Bridgwater, ISUG managing editor.
While ISUG goes to great pains to ensure that every feature, comment piece or tutorial is incisive, thought provoking and interesting - there will always be some pieces that shine out as particularly noteworthy.

"Recognizing the best of the best has always been a tough task, but it is something we like to do around TechWave every year to remind people of the importance of the ISUG Technical Journal," said Mike Harrold, ISUG executive director. "This year's awards are evidence of the fact that our writers have approached their pieces with a creative and conscientious approach, so that they can guarantee to deliver real reader value."

This year's awards are as follows:

  • In the Data Management category there was a tie for first place: Rob Verschoor's "Decoding Captured Missing Statistic" in ASE 15.0.3 ESD #1" was ranked alongside Jeff Garbus' "Top 10 Server Configuration Tips for A New ASE 15 Installation" as the most popular article.
  • In the Design & Development category, there was a single winning article with two authors. The first place award in this category went to Paul Vero and Wayne Smith's "When Windows ASE Clients Go Bad (Part 2)."

Professionally edited and managed, ISUG Technical Journal is currently going from strength to strength - if you would like to be considered as a future author, please get in touch now.

First presented in 2006, the ISUG Technical Journal Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the ISUG Technical Journal from authors published the prior calendar year.
