One of the biggest organizational obstacles to data quality management is basic pessimism about the possibility of managing the quality of data. This is due to lack of clarity—the goals and processes for data quality management have not been defined or have not been understood—and disbelief that the quality of data could be subject to control.

At Data Summit 2022, Sudha Viswanathan, staff engineer, Wayfair, presented a talk titled, "Gaining Insights From Clickstream Data." Viswanathan explained that Wayfair's clickstream data refers to data that contains information about customer actions on the Wayfair site, such as what pages were viewed, the products that were clicked, what was added to the cart, which URL brought the customer to Wayfair. This helps Wayfair make data-driven decisions regarding revenue attribution for different marketing channels and improves traffic and test analysis and ad bidding.

Infobip, a global cloud communications company and current member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), announced that it will enable Oracle Advertising and Customer Experience (CX) customers to orchestrate powerful consumer interactions using Oracle Digital Assistant. The Oracle Digital Assistant has integrated Infobip's WhatsApp solution, so businesses can manage incoming and outgoing messages, send rich media, and input location.

IBM and Red Hat have announced they are part of a 5-year collaboration to modernize the U.S. Department of Education's G5 grants management system with open hybrid cloud technologies. The joint effort, led by Innosoft Corp. and including technology from Red Hat and Amazon Web Services (AWS), with industry expertise from IBM, will replace the current G5 system with an open and flexible cloud-based system in line with the department's mission to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access. Using open, hybrid cloud technologies, the department will be able to modernize its operations while reducing complexity.

The first kinds of tools IBM is introducing with Merlin are tools that help with developing software with the "IBM i Next Gen Apps" approach. "This means that the first release of Merlin focuses on developing code, so it has an integrated development environment (IDE), using a DevOps approach (so it has wizards to help you set up a DevOps environment, or to integrate your IBM i development into an existing DevOps environment), while making it easy to publish and consume function using services. And it does all of this with a browser interface," said Steve Will, the chief architect for IBM i, responsible for strategy and planning related to the OS.

Oracle has announced the availability of Oracle Exadata Cloud Infrastructure X9M. With Oracle Autonomous Database Service or Oracle Exadata Database Service running on Exadata Cloud Infrastructure X9M, customers can run existing workloads faster, with greater scale, and at a lower cost than previous generations. Software intelligence company Dynatrace has extended its advanced AIOps capabilities for leading database environments, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL. New out-of-the-box extensions enable DevOps teams and DBAs to automatically surface and proactively act on real-time answers about the relationship between their database infrastructure and applications. Dynatrace database observability for Oracle is generally available now. Support for Microsoft SQL Server will be generally available within 90 days, and support for additional database platforms will be announced later in 2022.
