IBM's Jean Staten Healy to Moderate Panel on Open Virtualization at OSBC in San Francisco May 16-17

Virtualization is one of the hottest topics in computing today, helping organizations save money by sharing IT resources and providing the enabling platform for cloud computing. As with every new technology, however, there is always the risk of proprietary lock-in to single-vendor platforms and consequent loss of flexibility and choice for end users.

Jean Staten Healy, director of Cross-IBM Linux and Open Virtualization, will moderate a panel on open virtualization at the Open Source Business Conference on May 17 in San Francisco. The panel of industry experts, including Mike Richmond, technology planning director, Open Source Technology Center, Intel, and Scott Crenshaw, vice president, Cloud Business Unit, Red Hat, and will address why open virtualization is key to the future. Thy will also consider the key challenges currently around open standards and open source in virtualization, and how current and future technologies and initiatives can enable and promote open virtualization.
