IDC White Paper Examines the Progression of KVM in the Enterprise

IDC has released a white paper, “KVM: Open Virtualization Becomes Enterprise Grade.” IDC’s Gary Chen writes that x86 server virtualization has quickly become a trusted, mainstream solution. In particular, he notes, the implementation of KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine), which allows Linux to act as a full-fledged, enterprise-capable hypervisor for both Linux and Windows workloads, is unique in several ways and delivers a robust and scalable hypervisor. The white paper examines the architecture, progression, and future of KVM, as well as the related management and cloud system software, and profiles two key vendors in the ecosystem  IBM and Red Hat.
