KVM’s Growing Footprint in the Enterprise

What is driving KVM’s momentum in the enterprise? That question is addressed in a new blog by Radhesh Balakrishnan, Global Leader, Virtualization, Red Hat, and Jean Staten Healy, Director, Worldwide Linux and Open Virtualization, IBM, in which they reflect on KVM’s growing strength.

Balakrishnan and Staten Healy cite a new white paper by analyst firm IDC, “KVM: Open Virtualization Becomes Enterprise Grade,”  which states that KVM has made impressive progress since its inclusion in the Linux kernel in 2007.  Adoption has grown especially in key use cases such as Linux server consolidation and cloud computing.

Red Hat and IBM have become leaders in KVM development and promotion, and Red Hat has distinguished itself by delivering the KVM hypervisor and corresponding management tools in Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, Balakrishnan and Staten Healy point out in their blog, “Red Hat and IBM: Open Virtualization Drivers.”
