SUSE Manager Update Streamlines Linux Management

SUSE has released SUSE Manager 1.7, the latest version of its systems management solution for enterprise Linux environments. SUSE Manager helps enterprises manage SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers with a single centralized solution. The new version includes flexibility and compliance enhancements that help customers grow their Linux deployments while reducing management effort.

SUSE Manager 1.7 offers a standard approach to maintaining the security of enterprise systems, including the ability to audit the status of software patches and to confirm that servers have the latest security updates and security configuration settings, while also proactively monitoring for signs of certain security compromises. In addition, the new release supports the open source PostgreSQL database, and includes enablement for IPv6 addresses, allowing IT administrators to more efficiently manage the lifecycle of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.

“As the systems management needs of the enterprise continue to grow, we have equipped SUSE Manager with new features and capabilities that will help our customers maintain a competitive edge,” says Michael Miller, vice president of Global Alliances and Marketing for SUSE.
