Ashwood Computer, Inc., which specializes in MultiValue database technology, and Wynne Systems, Inc., a provider of business intelligence software, have formed a partnership to offer Wynne Systems' InfoManager business intelligence software to the MV community. According to the vendors, the new partnership will enable Ashwood to provide a high quality software as a service (SaaS) BI product to the MultiValue community while leveraging Ashwood's strong services capability.
"What we have is a very stable business intelligence product, InfoManager. It normally runs in an IBM midrange type of product family, but with the original architecture the way it was set up, it also lends itself exceptionally well to the SaaS model," Larry Christensen, senior sales executive at Wynne Systems, tells DBTA. "The partnership with Ashwood really deals with how to extract data from a MultiValue system and put it into the cloud so that we can process it with a very powerful business intelligence suite."
While offered as a SaaS application through the partnership, Christensen notes that the product can also be installed on premise for a customer if the customer has an IBM midrange environment. "We have been involved with very large sites; multicompany, multidivision environments are very comfortable to us."
"One of the biggest problems with business intelligence applications in MultiValue based BI solutions has been the performance hit that systems take in pulling data out on a daily basis and maintaining cubes; but with the SaaS model, the data is hosted offsite and it is not on your production system or even close to your production system," explains Doug Owens, vice president of Ashwood, adding that he expects the SaaS approach to be popular with Ashwood customers.
