Revelation Releases OpenInsight Development Suite 9.4 Including O4W V. 1.5 and OEngineServer Improvements

Revelation Software has announced the availability of the latest release of OpenInsight Development Suite (OI), including a new release of OpenInsight for Web (O4W v1.5) and enhancements to the OEngineServer that reduce memory usage.

OI 9.4 includes “evolutionary” enhancements requested by Revelation’s users and VARs, said Mike Ruane, president and CEO of Revelation Software, observing that “revolutionary” improvements will come later with the release of OpenInsight 10.0 which is currently in development.

The new release of OpenInsight for Web includes enhancements to the dashboards to allow for specification of additional sources for dashboard panels to include O4W Report and BRW report.  Additionally, improvements have also been made to O4W User Management, O4W Table Manager and a new utility function (O4WSWITCHMODE) has been added which allows developers to switch between local and online versions of O4W.

The Revelation Software OEngineServer is a Java application designed to “listen” for requests from various client applications; startup, manage, and terminate the database engines for OpenInsight (OEngines). It also routes requests and responses from the clients to the OEngines.  With the release of OI 9.4, OEngineServer stability has been increased significantly, and there is added support for UTF8 mode.  According to Robert Catalano, director of sales at Revelation, improvements to the memory usage of OEngineServer allow it to run millions of requests without interruption.

OI 9.4 also includes patches and enhancements for the MultiValue Base File System (MVBFS), Banded Report Writer, RevelationDotNet 4.0, OIPI.Net/OIPI, SQL Connector, Editor++/Basic+, OECGI3P.PHP and Arev32/CTO.

OpenInsight Development Suite 9.4 is available from Revelation Software, or throughthe company's network of resellers.
