Actility Raises $17.5M, Driving Widespread IoT Deployment

Actility, a French low-power industrial IoT connectivity company, is announcing the results of a recent funding round, having raised €16 million (approximately $17.5 million USD). Driven by the technological potential of massive IoT deployment, this funding will serve Actility’s growth efforts in making IoT a ubiquitous—as well as an efficient and sustainable—force in the digital world.

Actility innovates in the Low-Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) market, offering both service providers and enterprises support in their IoT network lifecycle from connectivity deployment to mass monetization, according to the company. Marketing itself as “solving the complexity of IoT,” Actility accommodates both enterprise and private LoRaWAN deployments.

“LoRaWAN is the WiFi of IoT,” said Olivier Hersent, founder and CEO of Actility. “Our potential market is very deep, with an estimated 2 million-plus private networks worldwide…most of…[our] large accounts gradually deploy across multiple sites and for multiple use cases. More accounts, more sites, more use cases—this is the formula for our accelerated growth in the coming years.”

The company’s IoT innovation also serves the bustling field of AI; by leveraging real-time field data, Actility drives AI value through improved agility, reduced resource waste, and risk reduction and mitigation.

“Due to its vast-reaching and industrial nature, the maturation of IoT technology took longer than anticipated,” said Hersent. “However, we have now entered a phase of steady growth, with enterprise adoption nearly doubling each year, propelled by widespread digitization. AI cannot operate without data, and our technology anchors AI to the real world across numerous industries.”

Actility places heavy focus on employing its IoT innovations to serve a more sustainable future. The introduction of ThingPark Enterprise—Actility’s Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solution designed to simplify IoT project execution—enables “smart city innovations” that enhance industrial efficiency with sustainable practices.

This most recent funding—which follows the company’s €70 million (approximately $76.7 million USD) raise in 2017—will propel Actility on its mission to digitize industries globally through the widespread adoption of efficient, safe, and environmentally sound IoT.
