Aiven, a provider of managed open source data infrastructure for application and AI development, is announcing the general availability of Aiven Runtime and Aiven DataHub—enabling companies, from startups to enterprises, to run applications and AI agents against production data while maintaining the complete governance, security setup, and interoperability of the data being consumed. The new services are available within the Aiven Data and AI Cloud.
“A decade after our founding, we’re seeing that open source data foundations are also critical for production AI. That's because models and clouds will change, but the data underneath has to outlast both. Runtime and DataHub are the first two pieces of the AI agent infrastructure that we’re building at Aiven, and there is so much more to come,” said Oskari Saarenmaa, the CEO and co-founder of Aiven.
Aiven DataHub gives AI agents a map of a company's data: what exists, what it means, where it came from and who can use it, across the systems they already run. Built on open-source DataHub and fully managed by Aiven, it comes with unlimited users and no per-seat licensing, so every team shares the same knowledge, according to the company.
Aiven Runtime enables AI agents and applications to act on live company data while that data stays inside the customer’s existing environment. Runtime is available on AWS and Google Cloud, with Microsoft Azure to follow.
