Attachmate Updates Reflection Terminal Emulation Line

Attachmate Corporation, a provider of web-to-host solutions, announced it has updated its family of terminal emulation and PC X server software for connecting desktop and mobile users to data center systems. Compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8 Certified, Attachmate’s new terminal emulator software – Attachmate Reflection 2011 R3 – connects users to enterprise applications running on IBM mainframes (including the new IBM zEnterprise EC12), IBM System i, UNIX/Linux servers and HP NonStop.

“We recognizes that migrations are some of the most complex and expensive IT projects an organization will undertake,” notes Kris Lall, product marketing manager at Attachmate. “Legacy systems and applications remain vital, but modifying them to leverage modern security and productivity tools, Web technologies, and mobile devices is not realistic given the costs and complexities. Attachmate’s strategy focuses on embracing new technologies without touching the back-end systems.”

According to Attachmate, many companies are continuing with their move to Windows 7, even with the Windows 8 launch coming later this month. In fact, Windows 7 migration activity is peaking, largely due to the looming end of support for Windows XP.

New enhancements and key features include in Reflection 2011 R3 include support for Attachmate Reflection Security Gateway, which adds a layer of security between client devices and critical host assets, while additional refinements to Attachmate’s “data-hiding” features on IBM host screens enable organizations to adhere to PCI DSS compliance requirements and equip them for the PCI audit process.

Reflection 2011 R3 is available immediately for purchase.  To evaluate Reflection 2011 R3, visit www.attachmate.com/Evals/terminal-emulation/rss/eval-form.htm.
