Today, Sybase, Inc., an SAP company, also announced a new HP-Sybase BI (business intelligence) reference architecture that leverages the HP Converged Infrastructure. The joint solution optimizes query response and data loads with reduced overhead, storage costs and maintenance requirements. Featuring Sybase IQ 15 running on HP ProLiant DL785 servers, Sybase says the solution will help organizations looking for high performance, scalability and energy efficiency at a lower TCO than other analytics server offerings.
The HP-Sybase BI reference architecture is optimized for data intensive workloads, and enables IT planners and architects to start from a "best-fit" reference configuration that reflects their companies' raw data size and query workload characteristics. Each configuration can then be optimized based on its specific workload and requirements.

According to Sybase, the HP-Sybase BI reference architecture offers the benefits of independent scalability of compute power and storage capacity; dramatic query performance with parallel query processing capability and enhanced query algorithms; the ability to load large data feeds directly from client while availability and disaster recovery ensure continuous availability of the analytics environment; usability and manageability tools that improve deployment, automation, and monitoring capabilities; and range portioning and configurable table spaces to lower the TCO in managing very large databases.
Sybase and HP engineering teams, along with Red Hat, announced earlier this year that Sybase IQ achieved the top data warehousing benchmark result among currently published non-clustered Linux and x86 systems in the TPC Benchmark H (TPC-H) at the 1 TB scale factor.
