CAST Automated Analysis and Measurement for ERP Applications Prevents Performance and Stability Issues

CAST, a provider of software analysis and measurement solutions, has announced the release of its automated analysis and measurement software for Siebel, PeopleSoft and SAP, which, the company says, addresses the growing need for consistent and objective measurement of these ERP platforms in order to eliminate costly customization errors in critical business applications.

For ERP applications, CAST software analysis and measurement measures the quantity and quality of custom code produced by internal or outsourced teams, facilitates compliance by generating lists of non-compliant objects and technical documentation to facilitate remediation, detects changes between two versions of a customized application, and produces detailed technical documentation of the customization. CAST also helps identify the ripple-effect impacts of upgrades, estimates the costs associated with impact mitigation work, and speeds adoption of new software modules by identifying which part of existing custom applications should be modified, visually detailing the impact of these modifications.

Siebel, PeopleSoft and SAP are environments where applications require a high level of customization, increasing business disruption risk, according to CAST. In these environments, Jitendra Subramanyam, director of product strategy and research at CAST, tells 5 Minute Briefing, automation as well as comprehensive visibility are essential. "Visibility is control," Subramanyam states. Manual measurement of quality is too expensive and time-consuming, and automation is required for exposing flaws that cause applications to perform erratically.
