Caspio has released Caspio HIPAA Enterprise, a HIPAA-compliant edition of its rapid application development platform.
With Caspio HIPAA Enterprise, the company aims to support the healthcare industry in leveraging cloud-based applications to improve efficiencies and streamline processes in practice management, patient engagement, and health information management within a secure and compliant environment.
Application examples include online patient portals, health insurance exchanges, clinical trial databases, and knowledge sharing, according to the vendor.

According to the vendor, Florida Healthcare Plus, a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) that provides patient care services for customers across the state of Florida, has automated its entire Medicare and Medicaid enrollment process using applications developed on Caspio’s HIPAA-compliant platform.
To deliver HIPAA compliance, Caspio upgraded its PaaS offering with technology, policies and procedures that keep electronic patient health information (PHI) in compliance with regulations. In addition to the existing features and capabilities of the Caspio platform, Caspio HIPAA Enterprise offers a HIPAA-compliant infrastructure, data encryption in transit and at rest, and audit logs and audit trail.
