Civo Looks to Simplify Cloud Computing with the Acquisition of Kubefirst

Civo, a pure-play cloud-native service provider, is acquiring Kubefirst, a renowned open-source GitOps powered platform for Kubernetes, from its parent company Kubeshop—enhancing Civo's portfolio and forwarding its commitment to simplifying cloud computing complexities. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Following the acquisition by Civo, Kubefirst will continue to operate under its own entity, preserving its mission to maintain an open-source software version and its agnostic cloud provider integrations.

Civo believes in a cloud that is fair, equitable and open, which stays true to the original promise of the cloud, by supporting business growth and not hindering companies through escalating costs, vendor lock-in, and more, according to the company.

Kubefirst has been an open-source project since its inception in 2019. The team has established a celebrated reputation in the cloud-native community, providing an instant production-grade Kubernetes Platform powered by GitOps.

"We are thrilled to welcome Kubefirst into the Civo family. This acquisition is a key milestone in our journey to reduce the complexity of cloud computing and provide more accessible, efficient, and scalable cloud solutions. Kubefirst aligns perfectly with our vision and values, and we are excited about the possibilities that this partnership unlocks. We are committed to maintaining the open-source nature of Kubefirst and look forward to contributing to its continued success,” said Civo CEO Mark Boost.

The strategic acquisition is expected to drive synergies between Civo and Kubefirst, fostering enhanced product offerings and innovation in the cloud computing space. Customers, users, and stakeholders of both entities can look forward to benefiting from the combined expertise and innovative solutions that this partnership will bring, according to the companies.

"Joining forces with Civo opens up a wealth of opportunities for Kubefirst to accelerate our mission,” said John Dietz, CEO, Kubefirst. “This partnership marks the beginning of an exciting chapter, allowing us to leverage Civo's resources while continuing to serve our community and maintain our foundational principles. We remain dedicated to driving innovation and excellence in the Kubernetes ecosystem."
