Data-driven enterprises use data and insights to fundamentally change the value proposition they offer to customers.

The best among them catalyze a virtuous cycle in which more customers generate more data that is used to further enrich products and services, creating a sustainable competitive advantage.

This requires orchestrating process, culture, and technology around making the most of data’s distinctive—and disruptive—economics.

Data-driven enterprises use data and insights to fundamentally change the value proposition they offer to customers, Kirschner explained.

The best among them catalyze a virtuous cycle in which more customers generate more data that is used to further enrich products and services. This requires orchestrating process, culture, and technology around making the most of data’s distinctive and disruptive economics.

For example, Nextflix’s success is due to its convenience, intelligent AI that learns what people like and want, and originality.

“It’s based on what they know about us and what we like,” Kirschner said. “You want to have a strategy that continues to make the customer experience better and better.”

A digital transformation journey starts with a data strategy premised on challenging how to make significant changes to the company’s value proposition, he explained. Next, the organization needs to hire a chief data officer. Organizations then need to utilize AI/ML and invest in AIOps to optimize the infrastructure so people can focus on creating value. Data portability and scalability is also key.

Apache Cassandra can assist people starting their data transformation journey, he said. The platform offers hybrid cloud, cloud native apps, integration with Kubernetes, and more.

“Because data can be reused, shared, and combined every piece of data makes every new piece of data more valuable,” Kirschner said “That could create a more valuable customer experience.”

As companies change and figure out how to use its valuable data, the possibilities for innovation increases, he said.

“Our mission is to make Apache Cassandra open and available to everybody,” Kirschner said.
